Dear Patriot :
The American Flag Foundation invites you to become a sponsor of the 10th Annual Louis V. Koerber Patriotism Award Luncheon on Thursday, April 17th at the 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore City. This prestigious award was named after a founding member, and each year a deserving United States citizen is selected for this honor based on his or her patriotism and public service.
This year, we have again chosen someone whose allegiance to the Flag and “to the republic for which it stands” merits recognition. John W. Armiger, Jr., retired president of Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Armiger, a native of Rodgers Forge and Ruxton, is both a graduate and former faculty member at the Gilman School. A Yale alumnus, Mr. Armiger’s generosity toward the true heroes of this nation is nothing short of legendary. He created Fallen Heroes to honor police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel who gave their lives in service to others. They are interred at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens without cost to their families.
Mr. Armiger also created the Circle of the Immortals where, on every Memorial Day, armed forces personnel, both the living and the departed, are honored at an elaborate and moving ceremony.
Previous honorees include Governor Schaefer, Brooks Robinson, Willard Scott, world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson, and A. B. “Buzzy” Krongard, former CEO of Alex Brown and Executive Director of the CIA.
Sponsorships for the Louis V. Koerber Patriotism Award Luncheon are available for $1000, $2000, or $3000. We encourage you to join us on Thursday, April 17, 2008, as we honor Mr. Armiger, a true patriot. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Clay Furtaw, Chairman, Louis V. Koerber Patriotism Award Committee
